Find Where You Belong Socially
Let’s identify the social groups in our life that bring us joy and fulfillment.
However, continuing to be optimistic about finding your group is another thing. The irony of being so connected through technology is that there is also an ongoing epidemic of loneliness.
How is that possible?
We have the same number of people, only they are harder to see and harder to find.
Perhaps it’s the case that we haven’t quite evolved yet to know how to find our groups when everyone is indoors.
One of the benefits of social media is that we can see and find our groups based on shared, mutual interests.
Whether it’s knitting, poetry, architecture, public speaking, political discussions, or online yoga, everyone has a space. It might even be volunteering.
Some of these groups bring out the best in us, some we may need to avoid. But, finding the right group can positively affect our well-being by feeling a sense of belonging, acceptance, and understanding.
What groups are you part of, or would you like to be part of?
Make a list of 8 potential groups, approach 5 and see if you can get two or three good ones.
Having many groups is a great strategy; when one is busy, others aren’t, but if one starts to fail, others catch you.
Find your group because it’s really no fun without one.
